Leading Indicators

With financial and accounting backgrounds most business leaders rely on lagging indicators such as profits and losses to evaluate their business’ performance. Safety has unfortunately been sucked into that vortex of draconian metrics with the number of injuries sustained serving as the performance indicator of the overall program. This workshop will focus on defining, developing and implementing those proactive measures that can influence future outcomes, otherwise known as leading indicators. Attendees should take away some insight as to how to evaluate what leading indicators are needed at their sites, how to ‘sell’ the concept of leading indicators to operations and management, and how to sustain the program as part of a long term continuous improvement process.
